More Insight:
Grace of God is unmerited favor towards us. All that we are and have received are by God’s Grace.
Apostle Paul said in I Corinthian 18:10, “But by the grace of God I am what I am.”
God said to Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”
Titus 2:11-14 gave a good picture of what Grace of God is:
“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,” v11
Grace of God that bring salvation had literally appeared to all man in the person of Jesus Christ, “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” John 1:17
We have received salvation by Grace through faith in Jesus Christ, it is the gift of God, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
Through our salvation our sins are forgiven, we have received the gift of indwelling Holy Spirit, we have become children of God, received the gift of eternal life, we have received all things that pertain unto life and godliness, God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.
Moreover “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” Romans 8:1
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. v12
Grace is a teacher that teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lust and live soberly and righteously in this present world. Grace is therefore not a license to consciously live in sin. “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid” Romans 6:1-2
Through Grace, the Holy Spirit empowers us to overcome sin and live righteously. “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” Romans 8:13
Through Grace, the Holy Spirit teaches us “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26
Through Grace, the Holy Spirit leads us “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Romans 8:14
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; v:13
Grace teaches us to look forward to the blessed hope and glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ because we have a glorious future with Him.
The same fact is expressed in Colossians 3:1-4 “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”
Having that blessed hope and eternal perspective enable us to put things in proper perspective regardless of the situation for we are Joint Heirs of the Kingdom with Christ and glory awaits us.
Apostle Paul is regarded as “Apostle of Joy” because he is always joyful and content and maintains eternal perspective in every situation as he expressed in Romans 8:16-18 “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. v:14
This again summarizes what, through Grace our Saviour Jesus Christ accomplished for us. He gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify us unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good work.
We are not saved by our works but by Grace, Moreover Grace enables us to maintain good works upon our salvation.
It is expressed in the following scriptures:
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2: 8-10
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8
